Madagascar Leader Announces 30-Member Cabinet

(MENAFN) Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina on Wednesday appointed a new 30-member Cabinet, replacing the previous administration that was dismissed along with Prime Minister Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo.

As stated by reports, the new Cabinet was unveiled at Iavoloha Palace, south of the capital, Antananarivo, and includes 17 returning officials alongside 13 newcomers.

The lineup features nine women and highlights Mamitiana Rajaonarison, a longtime anti-corruption official and gendarmerie officer who previously served as director general of the Financial Intelligence Unit. She was appointed prime minister earlier this month.

This reshuffle marks Randrianirina’s first major Cabinet overhaul since assuming power following protests that ousted his predecessor Andry Rajoelina last October.

The president has pledged to organize elections next year under a transitional framework referred to as the “Refoundation of the Republic.”
